Background
On March 7, 2007, Premier Ed Stelmach introduced Bill 1, Lobbyists Act.  Under this legislation, the Office of the Ethics Commissioner will be responsible for the establishment and maintenance of a lobbyists registry. 

The Bill was referred to the Standing Committee on Government Services following adoption of Motion 21 on May 29, 2007.  The Standing Committee held public hearings on the Bill in September 2007 and tabled its report and recommendations to the Legislative Assembly on November 6.  The Bill received Royal Assent on December 7, 2007.

Bradley V. Odsen, Q.C., joined the Office of the Ethics Commissioner on May 4, 2009, to carry out the responsibilities of the Registrar, Lobbyists Act.

The Lobbyists Act as amended, and General Regulations came into force on September 28, 2009.
